Our marching band, the "Big Blue", includes approximately 270 students in grades 9 - 12 and regularly performs at all EHS football games as well as several marching competitions and the Enterprise Christmas parade. The band has also performed at various other events, including parades in Disney World's Magic Kingdom and Epcot, Universal Studios, The Dunkin Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia, the Fiesta Bowl Parade and Field competition, the Festival of States parade and field competition, the National Peanut Festival parade and has appeared numerous times in the Alabama Governors Inaugural parade in Montgomery, AL. The concert band program consists of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and the EHS Jazz Band. The Wind Ensemble has been rated superior at District Contest every year for more than three decades. In 2008, the Wind Ensemble attended State Contest for only the second time in the last twenty plus years, and was rated Superior for the first time in as many years! In 2009, the Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at the Alabama Music Educators conference which was held at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. The band has also competed in the Smokey Mountain Music Festival several times, receiving superior ratings each time. Since 2010 the Wind Ensemble earned superior ratings from all judges at Alabama's Music Performance Assessment and 2012 and 2013 was rated superior with distinction. Also in 2012, the EHS Wind Ensemble was selected to be one of the guest performing bands at the Southeastern United States Band Clinic held at Troy University in Troy, AL. In the spring of 2014, for the first time ever, all three of the EHS concert bands received superior ratings at the Alabama Music Performance Assesment. Other ensembles include a jazz band and The Enterprise High School Winterguard. The jazz band is an auditioned ensemble that meets after school and performs for various local and regional events. The Winter Guard begins rehearsals in November and meet regularly after school and are scheduled in the Winter Guard class which meets daily during second semester. They compete regionally in the Gulf Coast Guard Circuit as well as Winter Guard International Regional and National Events in the Scholastic A division. |
